The animated series, 'SpongeBob', was created by marine science educator and animator Stephen Hillenburg and debuted in 1999 on the Nickelodeon television network, making him one of the most successful cartoons, from his famous Nicktoons to the date. The series is very simple when recounting the adventures of the most famous underwater Sponge on TV, along with his friends Patricio Estrella, Squidward, Arenita and Don Cangrejo.
But even though the animated series has always featured sea creatures within its main characters, it has also featured some surface dwellers such as Sirenoman and Barnacle Boy. They made their debut in the first season, and are an old couple of superheroes who enjoy a "happy" retirement, until SpongeBob annoys them to continue their adventures.
